About the Nintendo 64 N64 Fighter's Destiny

Fighters Destiny is a 3D fighting game offering several features designed to distinguish itself from similar titles in the genre. While most fighting games simply involve depleting an opponent's health meter in a set number of rounds, Fighters Destiny mixes things up by including a point system. The first fighter to score seven points wins the match, with a varying number of points earned by performing specific actions, such as ring-outs, throws, body attacks, counters, special skills, and so forth. Generally the more complicated the move, the more points are awarded, allowing both combatants a fair chance to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Nine characters are available from the start, ranging from a wrestler to a ninja to a clown, with more waiting to be unlocked.

Five play modes include Vs. Com, Vs. Battle, Record Attack, Master Challenge, and Training. Vs. Com involves battling each computer-controlled combatant until all fighters are defeated, at which point the player earns a special skill for their character. Vs. Battle pits two friends together, while Record Attack has players trying to achieve the highest score possible under certain conditions. The Master Challenge involves battling eight "masters" or four "jokers" for the opportunity to acquire up to eight new skills. Training has players practicing general moves or more specific fighting techniques, such as escapes, special attacks, aerial combos, and so forth. Game difficulty, rules, button layouts, and sound can all be modified within the options screen.
