Our Story
Comix Cafe is the culmination of a childhood dream for Owner, Darrin Stringfield. Darrin and his wife Lindsay decided to pursue this dream officially in the summer of 2018.
At a young age Darrin has always had an interest in the fantastic and fictional. Most comic store back stories start with an “Amazing Fantasy” or “Detective Comics” book that ignited a fascination. But for Darrin, growing up in rural Wisconsin, an “Archie’s Digest” was always an arm’s reach away.
He began his passion for baking at a very young age making homemade desserts and treats in the kitchen with grandma. His first venture into a self-made recipe was to make pancakes. The recalled ingredients were something along the lines of Powdered Sugar, Eggs, Milk, and Vanilla. He quickly realized it was best to start with a recipe and adjust accordingly until you have achieved exactly what you set out to make. This is the same formula that birthed the concept for Comix Cafe. There was a known recipe for both the comic shop, and the coffee shop, but both were in need of adjustment to perfect the recipe.
After College, Darrin set off on an exciting career in Oil in Gas. He moved from Wisconsin to Texas in the fall of 2006 to begin his career. After 12 years in Oil and Gas, Darrin and his wife Lindsay decided it was time to give this dream a try and see where it leads!
Comix Cafe will open in the summer of 2019 and the rest of the story is yet to be written!
