Welcome! Everything is fine.
It's been a bit! Sorry for the radio silence, I've been a busy bee here in the darkened store. There's been a lot to do and a lot to figure out.
First, welcome to the new website! Here it is! I've got ComicHub up and running. You can check out what we have in stock, make changes to your holds (if you're a comic customer), and more to come! I'm gonna break this post into sections to help you find just what you need to know.
General Shop Status, Orders, & Pick-Ups
The storefront is currently closed. However, I am going to start offering curbside pick up every Wednesday from 10am to 2pm and Saturday from 4pm to 7pm. To do this, you must make your purchase through our website by 9pm, either Tuesday for Wednesday pick up or Friday for Saturday pick up. Once you've complete payment, stop by the shop between the pick up hours, and give me a call at 253-874-3084. Let me know if you prefer contactless pickup! I'll have a table outside to set your order on. I will have a mask on and freshly washed hands and will keep 6feet between us either way. I'm currently not offering shipping. I only feel comfortable with USPS Flat Rate since I can print here and drop off at the post office. Anything less than that, I have to go stand in line at the post office, which I am not comfortable with right now. If I get overwhelming feedback from you guys that you are okay with paying $13 for shipping, I may offer it. If you haven't received information on setting up an account with us and you wish to pre-order or pay for stuff, send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org using the email you wish to use and we'll send you that info. The ComicHub App is not currently available. I think they're making some major changes to it.
Currently, Diamond Comic Distributors, is not shipping anything at this time. They do not have a time when they will return to shipping. This is definitely a scary time for the entire comics industry as they are the only distributor for mainstream comics. Yeah for a monopoly that doesn't make enough money for anyone to care about! This is a good example of why monopolies are bad. Anway, I'll step down from my soap box. I do have comics and graphic novels in the shop that are available for ordering! You will find that Coming Soon, New Releases, and Recent Releases are all blank, but you can find stuff under All Products. If you are a regular hold box customer in good standing, you should have received login credentials at the email address you have with us. Follow those instructions to see your account. Be sure to watch the help videos! I'm getting a lot of questions that are answered there. You can find them by clicking on the person icon in the upper right hand corner of the page once you've logged in. As for Free Comic Book Day, the last I heard was maybe in August. I have no more information than that.
Currently, Alliance Game Distributors, is not shipping anything at this time as well. They do not have a time when they will return to shipping. I do have access to other smaller game distributors so I could potentially get stuff for you. The only catch is that my dollar amount to have anything shipped without paying a lot is higher than I can afford right now. I will continue to take orders and once I build up enough to hit free shipping, I'll have stuff sent to me for you to pickup. So, as long as you are okay waiting, I can order stuff for you. But! I do have my current stock available on the website. I haven't done a full check of the inventory, so if you don't see what you're looking for, please feel free to ask and I'll check for you. Like, I just noticed that none of my D&D books are showing up. So, I gotta fix that. In the next day or two. I gotta focus on one thing at a time. I will post a blog update when I get it fixed.
Magic the Gathering
The latest news is that Wizards of the Coast, heretofore known as WotC, is planning on the Ikoria prerelease to happen on May 15th. I'm a little nervous about trying to host a large event so close to the "end" of our Stay at Home order. WotC has offered us the ability to sell our prerelease packs, allow players to pick them up, and play at home. I will be doing this! In order to participate, you must have a DCI number with us (if you've played in tournaments here before, we've got it for you). I hope to have the prerelease kits listed as a pre-order item early next week. I will post a blog update when that is available. If you are interested, please email us at email@example.com from the email address you wish to use for our website. I'll get you set up with an account so you can pre-order. Also! I'm working on getting Ikoria booster boxes up on the website for pre-order but I've run into some technical difficulties. I should have that fixed tomorrow (fingers crossed). WotC is handing out Magic Arena codes for Swag Bags for anyone that pre-orders a box of Ikoria. And! I haven't found a good way to put packs on the site and keep inventory straight, so if you want to add packs to your order, email me, and I'll get them added to the aside portion of your account so you can pay for them. I do have (some) Mystery packs available for $7.99 and all of the latest sets for $3.99 a pack. I promise I'll pick you the best packs! ;D
How Can I Help?
I've been getting this question a lot and I super appreciate everyone asking!
First, if I've got anything set aside for you, please pay for it.
Second, if you are out of work or finances are tight, I feel you. I won't be closing any boxes for non-payment at this time. I just ask that you communicate with me about what's going on. I'm happy to work with people that keep me in the loop. Please take a look at your list and make cuts if you need. The sooner I can get those books back on the shelf for others to purchase, the easier it is to recoup the money I've spent.
Thirdly, a customer graciously has given us some money to help pay for people's boxes that can't afford their books. I think this is a lovely idea and so I've started a fund called "Fans Helping Fans." If you want to help someone pay for their books, email me and I'll get you the details. If you want some help, email me and tell me what's going on. Here's the rules to receive help:
-Your box must have been in good standing when we closed our doors on March 31st.
-You only get 1 $25 credit.
-These are for items that were already in your box when we closed on March 31st. You can't add to it.
-The fund is limited, so it will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
-PLEASE do not apply if you are not out of work or able to afford your books. That's just shady and not kind and the whole point of this is kindness to be kind! If I find out you applied just to be greedy, you'll be banned from the shop forever.
On a personal note, I can't decide if I've picked a good or a bad time to go back to school! I'm going for some accounting courses at Green River. Everything is online, but I honestly forgot all about school with working on the shop. I haven't had to hustle this hard in a few years. My crew has been awesome and has made my job so easy. I'm looking forward to working with them again when we re-open. We've been chatting a little bit every day. Sharing memes and TV shows to watch (The Good Place was much discussed the other day). I miss them. You guys have been awesome with all of your support and outreach. I miss you too! But I think I've been at the shop long enough today. I'm missing my Animal Crossing island. XD
Keep a safe distance, wash your hands, and take care of each other!
