Ramping up for DC All In!
Hey everyone! This is Lighthouse’s first fifth week, so we’re going to be doing things a little differently. For those of you that don’t know: four times a year, a month will have a fifth Wednesday. Because of publishing schedules, this always leaves a kind of weird week. Usually there’s a bunch of annuals, one-shots, or whatever cool stuff lands in this spot. This fifth week is kind of light (but there’s still plenty of cool, new stuff!)
Because this week was so light, we’re still going to look at a book from this week that I’m excited about, but we’re also going to look around it a little bit.
The Lighthouse shines on Absolute Power: Task Force VII #3! This is the third issue of the series of one-shots exploring each of the new Amazo robots that Waller has created to steal the powers from the heroes of Earth, and this issue focuses on the Green Lantern-centric robot: Jadestone! You don’t have to have read the last two issues to pick this one up, but they’re worth checking out if you want to see what’s up with Steve Trevor.
This is a super fun issue that ties directly into Absolute Power and the Green Lantern book (GL readers, you’re not going to want to miss this one) as the JSA and Carol Ferris take on this new threat, which Alan Scott seems to develop a special relationship with. Jeremy Adams has been killing it on Green Lantern, and this issue is a really fun extension of that with Marco Santucci’s awesome art. It’s on sale this Wednesday, July 31st, and I’d recommend checking it out.
But, there’s all kinds of Absolute going on at DC. For those of you that missed it, DC is launching a really big, exciting initiative in October. You’ll be sick of hearing about how excited we are for that, but first there’s Absolute Power: the huge DC event that’s taking everything from the last couple years at DC and turning it into the next couple. If you’ve stepped away from DC or have never known where to step in, this is a great place to start.
Amanda Waller has depowered every superhero on Earth, and it’s up to Batman to lead the resistance against them. There’s a manageable number of tie-ins for the series, and we’ve kept all of them in stock if you missed something. Each tie-in feels entirely unique while also directly tying into the event, and it’s a really cool story being built. They all really enhance the story, but you’re also fine just reading the core series.
We still have copies of Absolute Power #1 on sale for $3.99. Absolute Power #2 comes out next week (8/7), and there are murmurs that it’s going to be a big one. The first issue surprised me in how good it was, and I was already really looking forward to it. It’s big, it’s loud, and it’s going to have major consequences. It’s an event, and it really feels like it.
So come on in, let us know what you’ve been thinking of Absolute Power, or jump on and let us know later. This is a great event that shows what’s so great about the DCU. I’m really excited and optimistic about the future of DC, and I can’t wait to hear what you all think. Don’t miss out!
Thanks for reading,
-Lukas
