Free Comic Book Night is back this Saturday, May 4th from 4 pm to 8 pm!!
That’s right, the holiday you won’t see on store shelves or hear on the radio months in advance is back. What do we have going on?
Free Comics- We got ‘em - Disney Encanto, Snoopy, Max Meow, Pokemon, Spidey and his Amazing Friends, Star Wars, DC, X-Men, Doctor Who, Transformers/GI Joe, Mad Magazine, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spider-Man and more. You get one comic for showing up, one for bring a non-perishable food item for the Newark Area Welfare Committee, one for wearing a costume, and one for showing a school ID or library card (Max of 4 comics to a person while supplies allow)
Guests- Neil Vokes (Superman Adventures, Fright Night), Buz Hasson and Blair Smith (Living Corpse, Grumpy Cat), Knack Whittle (Sweet Valley Twins), Liz DeJesus, Dar’Ron Harmon, Shawn Gaines and Eric Mastos.
Fun!- Ghostbusters and Ecto-1, Pika-Bug, Newark Police Activities League, Spiderbite Boutique and Opio’s Pop Culture World!
Star Wars cosplay contest- we’ve got two medals to give out (you know the one they forgot to give to Chewie!) - one for best overall and one for most fun Star Wars costume. We’ll be using the Force to determine the winners!
Food- Outlandish Food Truck from 4 to 8 pm.
Hours- Characters, guests, food and activities are from 4 to 8. Captain Blue Hen will be open from 11 to 8 and will have Free Comics available starting at noon if you can’t make the festivities. Guests Knack Whittle appears from noon to 6 pm and Neil “The Iron Man” Vokes from 2 pm to 6 pm.
Parking- Kelway Plaza (the entrance just past the Newark Emergency Center and before the New Ark United Church) is letting us use their parking lot for overflow. It’s a two minute walk and can be accessed by car from our parking lot, just follow the signs.
