Hopefully, you didn’t miss the First State Comic Con held last Sunday at the Millcreek Fire Hall. I set up as vendor. It was a great one – solid crowd all day and the people were there to buy!
I had been accumulating boxes and boxes of inventory that I just don’t have the room to put in the shop, so I rented a U-haul and took them to the show. Well, as pleased as I was with sales, I’m renting one again and headed to the Galactic Con being held at the Appoquinimink High School in Middletown, DE this coming Saturday, March 14th.
The First State Comic Con is like an old-fashioned comic book show with its main emphasis on those funny books, but there are always artists and toy dealers and a nice cosplay contest hosted by the guys from PLB Comics*. According to what I have heard repeatedly, it has more comics for sale that can be found at a Wizard Con! The Galactic Con is larger in scale with more vendors exhibiting cosplay, arts and crafts, toys, gaming, artists, and the number of comic book vendors has been increasing. It’s a nice show with something for all the family members. Definitely worth the trip.
I’ll be bringing 60+ long boxes of comics priced at just a buck a book (quantity discounts, too!). These are from large collections where after I pulled the BIG keys out, I just didn’t not have the time or energy to price out the rest – plenty of great bargains to be had! In addition, I’ll bring along some of those boxes from down below the bins in the shop – you know, the ones that are a pain to pull out and go through. I need to thin the herd, so expect a huge sale on these (currently 50% off at the shop!)
More comic events in your future include:
Frankenstein Comics’ CHUD (Comics Here Under a Dollar) Show – Sunday, April 19th at the Ramada Inn in Cherry Hill, NJ. Pick-up a flier in the shop
Our annual Memorial Day Flea Market that’s held outside in our parking lot (we are getting numerous requests already to reserve spots).
Clandestine Comic Show – June 9th in Timonium, MD – Fliers in in the shop
The First State Comic Con will return to the Millcreek Fire Hall in July. Highly recommend that you sign up soon to become a vendor as it always sells out and has a waiting list.
We’re not sure about doing a 4th of July Flea Market at this time, but our annual Labor Day Flea market is probably a “go”.
*yes, it’s pretty far away, but consider attending the Ocean City (Maryland) Comic Con next December. The fine crew at PLB Comics do an outstanding job filling the huge convention center. I set up there for the first time this past winter and had a great time – nice show and well attended, also. Fliers are in the shop.
