So, what’s it worth? I had a copy of Detective 122 not too long ago. Featuring the first appearance of Catwoman on the cover. It was somewhat better than the copy that recently sold at auction on eBay, shown above. This one, described as “CGC Graded .5 (Poor condition) with Cream to Off-White Pages. Label notes: "Spine of cover completely split & cover detached." It's not just split, but most of the paper along the spine is gone (not sure if you can see it in the pic.
I would say mine was a “Fair” and it sold for $300, the price I marked it since the guide listed a “good” for $459. I was happy. Make a guess at what it brought and check the bottom of this post to compare.
With this COVID mess, I am still batting zero as far as picking up new material. Online auctions with issues I think would go over well in the shop have left me “no meat on the bone”, with many going WAY over guide. I’ll keep searching.
In the meantime, I’m working on setting up a scavenger hunt for our customers and hope to have it ready for pick-up at the shop around July 4th. Ah, July 4th, that might have been the date of one of our famous outdoor flea market and collectible shows, but it’s too soon to hold one. We also have to wait for the First State Comic Con to be rescheduled. Maybe we can have a Labor Day Flea Market – let’s hope!!
During this down time, I’ve only gone a week before deciding that it was time to get rid of the developing Santa beard. Vanity defeated laziness!
Back to the Detective 122.This CGC 0.5 copy sold for $985.03 – more than guide for a 4.0!!
