Except for this blog, I do not participate in social media. I don't need to see pictures of other peoples' pets or hear about their BMs. And really, I use this more as an advertisement opportunityy - for the shop and myself. However, a few months ago, I decided that an account with the big boy on the block was necessary. Why? Because our current point of sale system didn't accommodate our old Captain Blue Hen website.
I don't know about you, but I miss the old site. Dave, Kita, and Jason were able to make it their own and I think did a great job. It was attractive and interesting and easy to navigate. I decided to make the leap when it seemed that I would be able to get more information about the goings on at the shop if I used FB. Again, I really didn't want others to start sending me unsolicited messages, so I used a pseudonym as my ID with no bio, no pic, but my actual email address.
Then the notices and requests started. I've just ignored them and deleted the emails from FB. When I checked out who was on the lists, I recognized family members and friends, but there were also loads of people that I have NO idea of who they are! Were they on the contact lists of the people I do know? Does FB go into your contact lists without your knowledge? I don't know and I didn't feel at ease. So. I permanently deleted the account.
Rant over, here are the commercials:
LABOR DAY - two important events. 1) Our scaled down Flea Market & Collectibles Show is on!! Weather permitting, of course. The city of Newark just passed a resolution restricting outdoor gatherings to 20 people or less, but that does NOT apply to restaurants and businesses. So, get up early (show is only 9:00 - Noon), bring your masks and score some deals!
2) Labor Day happens to be the last day you can turn in your Scavenger Hunt entry!! Huh? Ain't picked up the contest form, yet? Stop by the shop or go back into the older blogs and get the downlow!
