I’m baaack! Well. more accurately, I’m booored!
As mentioned, the September First State Comic Con was my last official set-up. I moved a bunch of leftover comic book-related stuff and have recently dropped off what remained to an auction house. Add to that, our littlest grand-daughter started pre-school, so grandpa and grandma don’t have her to watch. Add to that, the regular baseball season ended, so my fantasy league did, too. Add to that, Fall is here and my days of cutting four lawns a week is about to end.
I did start cleaning up the garage, but that isn’t much fun. So… my days are filled with watching Chicago PD, Blue Bloods, NCIS, and L & O (of course! especially the "Lenny" episodes) reruns. And, eating. Mostly, out of boredom. I’m not a “foodie” and don’t cook, but the recipes, descriptions, and pictures that I get occasionally due to subscribing to the website of our favorite Girl Carnivore, Miss Kita, are incredible and almost tempt me into trying them. You gotta check out Girlcarnivore.com to see what our world traveling, photographer, foodie is up to! Got an inch to do some traveling yourself? She’s planning something special, looking for others to join her team and your suggestions!
Of course, I couldn’t go “cold turkey” after 45 years selling comics and still check out online and local auctions for comics. The boom experienced during the height of the pandemic doesn’t appear to have abated yet. It’s a sellers’ market out there from what I can tell. I have never given advice on what to buy to make money in comics, but rather pushed buying what one enjoyed. Should it increase in value over time, it’s a plus. However, should you want to hear more about investing in comics, click on this link as Vince Zurzolo, C.O.O. and co-owner of ComicConnect (Metropolis Comics) gives his thoughts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVHy-mKcrs8. I routinely get emails from them and if you really want to get deep in the business, Metropolis Comics is hiring! Check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEdtORPUce8. There are other interesting youtube videos that pop up when you do.
On another note, and while I’m talking about money, check out the Delaware Escheatment website! https://unclaimedproperty.delaware.gov/ It’s easy to use – just type in your name or family members and see if there’s money to be claimed! No luck for me, but three of my family members are filing now!
The pandemic is not over! Please don’t let others get complacent. Too many are not educating themselves about the vaccines. I’m getting my booster this week!!
Happy Halloween!
