As magic continues to pop up all over Las Vegas, experienced con man and newbie sorcerer John Dodge discovers that he's already made some powerful enemies. But for a guy who prides himself on his ability to read a crowd, he's having a hard time figuring out just who those enemies are. Things only get more complicated when he visits a magical casino and encounters an apparently helpful ghost, an urbane but menacing potential employer, a homeless and secretive old coot, a damsel in distress, an unearthly predator, and the deadly and unpredictable Suicide Jack. Which leaves Dodge wondering if he'll ever be able to tell his friends from his foes!
