Earth's Mightiest Heroes respond to the sudden appearance of a 100-foot tall wooden creature standing in the Hudson River! And the twin to this colossal construct is standing several miles away in the East River! Together they are known as the Harbingers of the Everlasting Winter! The Avengers attack the mysterious creature in the Hudson, but can only fight it to a standstill. Then Doctor Strange unexpectedly appears and tells the heroes about the dire situation at hand! A powerful artifact called the "golden apple" has been sliced into 8 pieces and sent backward in time. And now each avenger must treacherously travel into his or her past and find one of the pieces!
