About the Sktchd Zine #1 - By David Harper

The zine is 76 pages long, A5 sized, with interiors printed on 60 lb uncoated paper and a 80 lb gloss laminated cover. It's saddle-stitched, and comes with original art from artist Tadd Galusha, whose work introduces each section.

It includes:

- A cover by colourist and designer Rico Renzi (as well as a bonus five question interview with Renzi at the end)!

- The Age of Antetokounmpo: What if the X-Men became real, loved to hoop, and wanted to join the National Basketball Association right before the 2024-25's seasons draft and free agency? This is a look at what would happen and which mutants would be the best hoopers. It also features a bonus take on the subject from writer Kyle Starks (Peacemaker Tries Hard!, I Hate This Place, Old Head) and bonus art from Gavin Guidry!

- The Kieron Gillen interview: This conversation with writer Kieron Gillen from an episode of Off Panel appears in print here for the only time, and it's a good one, as we dive into his work on comics like Immortal X-Men, A.X.E.: Judgment Day, Eternals, and more, while also breaking down his approach to writing and storytelling. It's a lovely chat.

- House of Mmmmm: This is the unofficial handbook to the DC and Marvel universes, food edition. Inspired by Brian Michael Bendis and his food scenes, this feature dives deep into scouting reports of some of the most notable characters from superhero comics, giving you insight into what kind of food person they are, for better or worse. It also features a bonus interview with Bendis himself where we talk about the marriage of food and superheroes!

- A Very Scientific Ranking of Brian K. Vaughan's Career: It's impossible to judge which project from Brian K. Vaughan's career is the best without bias as an individual...but what if you used science to help you decided? I created a special formula to help rank the ten most notable creator-owned (or for-hire that feels creator-owned) from his career, and analysed what makes each of these projects rank where they do.

- Frank's Very Bad Plan: This is an older feature from SKTCHD, but it's a good one. It finds me talking to a weapons expert about what exactly would happen if Frank Castle went through with his plan from Klaus Janson's cover of The Punisher #1 (1987). It's a hell of a thing.
